Anna Marie Hahn was a twenty-six-year-old German immigrant who cared for elderly men, bilking them of their money and then killing them when the money ran out. She offered a “mercy killing” defense but the jury didn’t buy it, and in 1938 she became the first woman to go to Ohio’s electric chair.
